Srinagar: Authorities have lifted blockade on mobile and internet service in Srinagar and other major towns of the Valley after snapping it in view of August 15 celebrations in the state.

Mobile and 2G, 3G and 4G internet services have been restored this afternoon by all private cellular companies and the state run BSNL in Srinagar, the capital city, and other major towns and districts of the Valley, official sources Said.

“Mobile and internet service was snapped around 1:00 am today as a precautionary measure. The services were restored around noon,” they added.

Snapping internet service has become a normal practice for the authorities on occasions like August 15 and January 26. Internet service is also blocked in areas, where gunfight breaks out between militants and the government forces.
