NEW DELHI : Indian Naval forces have been very active when it comes to participating in international bilateral and trilateral exercises. Of many firsts, Indian Navy’s P8I long-range maritime reconnaissance aircraft from Indian Naval Ship (INS) Rajali has been inducted at Hawaii for participating in the Rim of Pacific Multinational Naval exercise (RIMPAC-18) for the first time.
It is for the first time any IN aircraft to cross the International Date Line, undertaking the longest ferry of nearly 3300 nm from Guam to Hawaii. The Indian Armed Forces have taken part in several joint exercises and have received good feedback from its counterparts, till date. And, that is obviously something that we, as Indians can be proud of.
This is for the first time the Indian Navy has participated in RIMPAC – 18. So to briefly know about the exercise, RIPMAC is the largest maritime exercise hosted by the US Navy, where it invites various countries from around the world. P81, Indian Navy’s long-range reconnaissance aircraft from INS Rajali has taken part in RIMPAC-18, thus making it the first ever aircraft to go so far-east into the Pacific.
The force has also bagged several other milestones as a part of this exercise. This year, RIPMAC is hosting 26 nations, who are undertaking tactical exercises which includes Anti Submarine Warfare and Maritime Reconnaissance missions.Holistically, the training will facilitate the internal functioning between different sections of the Indian Navy better.
During the exercise, IN P8I will be operating from Joint Airbase Hickam, Honolulu in Hawaii.
