Mumbai : Inspector General (IG)V D Chafekar has been promoted to Addl. Director General and will assume the charge of ADG Western Seaboard on 01 November 2019.

As per the sources, the announcement to be made over a Press conference jointly with Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard) as scheduled for Nov 01, 2019 at the Coast Guard Headquarters Worli Seaface, Mumbai, India.

Inspector General Vijay D Chafekar, PTM, TM, is a qualified Dornier Pilot and has vast seafaring experience commanding Fast Patrol Vessel, Offshore Patrol Vessel and Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel in the Indian EEZ and beyond from almost all major ports of mainland India and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

He is a distinguished graduate of Naval Staff College, New Port, USA and has also done Naval Higher Command Course. His other academic achievements include Post Graduate Diploma in Maritime Law and M Phil in Defence and Strategic Studies.

The officer has undertaken extensive flying in Coast Guard Dorniers from Coast Guard Air Stations at Daman, Chennai and Kolkata.He has also carried out successive appointments as the Commander of Coast Guard District Headquarters at Chennai and Kochi during the period 2006-2009 and a tenure as Officer-in-Charge, Bureau of Naviks, during 2009-11.
