NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge today said that the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) was headed for a clear and decisive victory with at least 295 seats.
Briefing reporters after presiding over a two and a half hour long meeting of the alliance partners, Kharge disclosed that based on the feedback from across the country, they had reached the conclusion that they will be winning at least 295 seats, not less than that.
He said, it was not the Congress party’s or INDIA bloc’s survey but the people’s survey. He said, this figure was reached after taking into account the feedback of the public.
He said, the INDIA leaders discussed various issues that may crop up in the coming days. It is being conveyed to the rank and file that they have to be alert till the final counting of the votes, he added.
Kharge disclosed that the INDIA bloc wants to meet the Election Commission of India and has sought an appointment for Sunday to discuss certain issues.
Those who attended the meeting besides Kharge included Ms Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, K. C. Venugopal, Sharad Pawar, Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, Champai Soren, Farooq Abdullah, Akhilesh Yadav, Priyanka Gandhi, Prof Ram Gopal Yadav, Jitendra Awhad, Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, T. R. Baalu, Tejashwi Yadav, Sanjay Yadav, Kalpana Soren, D. Raja, Sitaram Yechury, Anil Desai, Dipankar Bhattacharya and Mukesh Sahani.
