Srinagar : Anganwari centres falling in Khanyar  Zone are reportedly not getting their proper share of food-stuff under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) program.

Integrated Child Development Services is a government program which provides food, preschool education, primary healthcare, immunization, health check-up and referral services to children under 6 years of age and their mothers.

Every Anganwari Centre is supposed to get 20 kilograms of Sugar, 75 kilograms of Chana, 2 bags of turmeric and 100 kilograms of rice. Reports said that these centres are not getting their due-courtesy officials at the helm of affairs.

There are over 278 centres in the Zone.

Reliable sources told news agency CNS that some employees from ICDS in connivance with drivers are not supplying food stuffs to the Anganwari Centres as prescribed by the Government. “In every item, the employees who are ruling the roots make benefits. Instead of supplying 100 kg rice, they supply only 80 kgs. Similarly, instead of supplying 20 kg sugar they only provide 10 kgs and when it comes to chana (lentil) they supply only 50 kgs while they are supposed to provide75 kilograms.”

An official from ICDS Department said they will investigate the matter. (CNS)
