Senior Hurriyat (M) leader Bilal Lone on Wednesday changed the name of his Peoples Conference to Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Independent Movement to “end any confusion in taking forward his father’s legacy”.
“I have been very close to my father and just to avoid confusion in taking forward my father’s legacy changing the name of my party was highly inevitable,” Lone who is elder brother of former minister Sajad Lone, told Greater Kashmir.
“After taking my workers into confidence, I changed the name of my party. The body will remain unchanged,” he said.
Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq made the announcement during a press conference at Raj Bagh office of the amalgam today.
