SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference demanded immediate release of pro-freedom leaders and activists and said that hundreds of innocent youth detained under frivolous cases are languishing in jails and police stations across the valley and most of them are detained under infamous Public Safety Act.
Hurriyat while referring to continuous detention of Muslim League leader, Abdul Ahad Para, said that his PSA was quashed, however instead of releasing him, was lodged in police station Qalam Chakla.
Hurriyat said that its THK leader Mushtaq Ahmad Hura although bailed out by court, continuous to be under detention. Hurriyat expressed deep concern about the deteriorating condition of its activists.
Statement stated that Ab Ahad Para is facing multiple health issues and neither he is being provided with specific treatment nor released. They were arrested during people’s uprising in 2016, shifted to Kotbhalwal jail and despite court orders for their release, were rearrested.
In an appeal to ICRC, Amnesty International and international organization for human rights, Hurriyat Conference impressed to take their cognizance and use influence for immediate release of all detainees.
