SRINAGAR: “A Patwari and a Ward Officer are backing a political worker to get his house constructed on State land meant for the dispensary,” alleged group of locals from Malabagh Lal Bazar in the outskirts of Srinagar city.

The locals who emerged in Press Enclave Srinagar demanded a thorough probe into the shoddy dealing of Patwari Baghat Shoora and Ward Officer Lal Bazar. They claimed that a political worker has greased their palms to facilitate illegal construction of his house.

“There is no building permission from Srinagar Municipal Corporation and there are is proper revenue record that proves land comprising 3 kanals is state land,” they said adding that concerned Patwari is trying to tamper with the revenue records.

“We even know that concerned Patwari has prepared a forged document making the man in question as the owner of 1.4 kanal land under khasra number 1843 and 1845,” they said.

They appealed SMC and concerned Tehsildar to probe the matter. “We will hit to roads if no action is not taken against concerned Patwari and Ward Officer,” they said.

When contacted Ward Officer Lal Bazar Bashir Ahmed said that they visited the site today and dismantled the structure, a claim refuted by locals.

Patwari, Baghat Shoora Shafat Ahmed told CNS the land comprising 1 kanal 4 marlas belongs to Abdul Salam Sofi, the man in question. “I have sent my report to Tehsildar concerned. It is SMC that should be blamed not the revenue department,” he said. (CNS)
