Srinagar : The hoteliers operating from inside the Dal Lake in Srinagar on Monday appealed authorities to allow them to rehabilitate them to a desired location.
Dal Lake Hotel Association President Fayaz Ahmed Mir told that there are 14 hotels that were registered after a survey was conducted in 1986.
“There are 14 hotels inside the Dal Lake that are registered with Department of Tourism and J&K Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA). Most of these hotels are in dilapidated condition. These hoteliers should be rehabilitated at Gupt Ganga Nishat where LAWDA owns vast chunk of land,” he said.
He said all these hoteliers seek a commercial site for rehabilitation.
“We are ready to vacate from the Dal Lake as we are suffering immensely,” he said and sought intervention of Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary Housing Dheeraj Gupta.
He said government has a proper rehabilitation policy which is not being implemented. (KNT)
