Srinagar: Thousands of devotees gathered at the revered Hazratbal Shrine and other mosques across Kashmir to observe Shab-e-Meraj, commemorating the ascension of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to the heavens.
The Hazratbal Shrine, illuminated with lights, beamed brightly as locals and pilgrims filled the area, creating a vibrant atmosphere of spirituality.
The largest gathering is being witnessed at Hazratbal, where men, women, and children participated in night-long prayers.
The Holy Relic of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) will be displayed tomorrow (Tuesday) after each prayer, drawing even more devotees to the shrine.
This significant spiritual occasion, marked on the 27th of Rajab, saw mosques across the Valley brimming with worshippers praying for peace and prosperity. Communities prepared with devotion as mosques filled with spiritual fervor.
One pilgrim, Hamza Habib, expressed his emotions, saying, “I will pray for the peace and prosperity of the people of Jammu and Kashmir during this sacred night.”
Another local, Irham Hamid, satisfied with the arrangements, said, “Today I will pray for the entire Muslim ummah, and I am happy to see all the arrangements in place.”
An official from the Waqf Board told JKNS, “Necessary arrangements will remain in place on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and including facilities for the Friday following prayers.”
Talking to media persons in Srinagar, RTO Kashmir Qazi Irfan, as per news agency JKNS, said, “Transport arrangements at all main stations are in place at Panthachowk, Parimpora, Lal Chowk, and Ganderbal.”
“SRTC, Smart Buses have been stationed at different stations for smooth transportation of people. Smart buses are also available,” he said.
Irfan further stated, “E-Rickshaws are also available with over 50 vehicles placed on both sides of Dargah Hazratbal. We will ensure transport is available throughout the nights, especially during early morning Fajr prayer and tomorrow as well, with Friday following.”
Moreover, traffic authorities issued an advisory to manage the influx of worshippers. A traffic department official told “A road plan is in place to ensure smooth entry and exit at Hazratbal Shrine. Additional transport facilities have been arranged to facilitate the movement of devotees.” (JKNS)
