Srinagar : The District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Nazir Ahmad Khan Thursday said that he has no plans to join any political party in Jammu and Kashmir, but will fight as an independent candidate for the people of Budgam.
“I have no plans to join any political party. I will fight for my people as an independent candidate come what may even if I would have to fight against National Conference (NC) leaders, Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah,” Khan said.
He said that he has forged an alliance with Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) led by Hakim Muhammad Yaseen as they would ensure that all the five assembly segments in the district will remain in the hands of representatives hailing from the district only. “We have resolved to ask the people of Budgam to ensure that the district remains in the control of the representatives from the district only,” he said.
Khan also said that he as an independent candidate and Hakim Muhammad Yaseen would support each other rather than strengthening the leaders from other parties. “Our agenda is clear that no other party will be allowed to emerge victorious from the district,” he said—(KNO)
