SRINAGAR: Omar Masoodi, a teenage boy of Bemina, who met an road accident recently due to dilapidated accident prone spot on the two lane road in the area revamps it along with his friends.
The road was posing immense risk to the pedestrians and commuters. According to the victims, they brought the matter into the notice of concern authorities and the Mohalla Committee. Despite that, they said, “Our pleas have fall on deaf ears”.
Omar’s, this move is an lesson to the concern authorities, who fail to perform their duty and those who keep passing the buck without sharing the responsibility.
Omar’s mother was critically injured in the mishap. Latter few more accidents were reported on the same road in Bemina due to the dilapidated road condition. According to the locals, there were the piles of small rocks and pebbles on the road which resulted in about four accidents in past one week. They added, among four, two people have undergone Surgeries.
Omar posted on his facebook wall, “Allhamdullilah i along with my friends yesterday cleared it out within no time, but the thing here is that why is it that nobody among the authorities or so called mohalla committee’s paid attention and cleared it out despite knowing the fact that it can be harmful to people??.”.
We need more responsible youth like Omar, who set an example for those who remain unmoved to the social responsibilities. In civilized societies people must understand their responsibilities rather than putting blames on the authorities or government.
