Srinagar: Lashing out at the Cultural Academy and the Gayoor Foundation for inviting speakers at a function aimed at paying tributes to famous poet Ghulam Rasool Gayoor, State Spokesman of Bhartiya Janata Party Altaf Thakur said the speakers that include Prof Muhammad Aslam and Bashir Arif should tender a public apology for using the derogatory remarks against the Governor Satya Pal Malik and the newly elected Mayor Junaid Matoo by stating that “Dog’s were ruling Jammu and Kashmir.”
In a statement to news agency CNS, Thakur said that BJP has great regard for every poet including Gayoor but the way auditorium of Information Department, which is part and parcel of JK Government, was used to make offensive comments against the Governor Satya Pal Malik who is presently heading the State and the new Mayor of Srinagar, Junaid Matoo, are totally unacceptable for BJP.
Thakur said that with the footage of the function as a major proof, Prof Muhammad Aslam while targeting particular religion Thakur said as a responsible citizen, Prof Aslam must apologies before the public for his hate remarks.
Similarly, Thakur said that using a government stage, Bashir Arif, who was one of the speakers, also spewed venom by comparing humans with animals by stating that Jammu and Kashmir was ruled by dogs.
Thakur said Arif, who had enjoyed a prime post of being director general at Radio Kashmir, should not have spoken against the Governor Satya Pal Malik in such a manner. The BJP state spokesman asked Bashir Arif to come clean as to what he meant by stating in his speech and Jammu and Kashmir is being ruled by dogs.
The BJP state spokesman urged Governor Malik to seek entire footage of the function and to go through the speeches made by Prof Aslam and Bashir Arif and to take serious action against the duo for triggering communal frenzy not only in the State but in entire country.( CNS)
