JKFA EXPRESSES CONCERN “SEEKS RAJBAVAN RESPONSE.”
SRINAGAR: It has been learnt from reliable sources that the Govt. is all set to merge J&K State Sports Council (only Advisory Body on Sports & Games in State) with Youth Services & Sports Department, JKFA said in a statement.
This all was discussed in an emergency meeting held today 13/12/2018 under the Chairmanship of President Z.A Thakur President JKFA, where in all the Members resolved that HE the Governor Satpal Malik should clear the Air on the Issue.
The J&K State Sports Council from its inception in 1961 has been functioning very effectively and efficiently under its own constitution registered under J&K Society’s Act. The JKSSC caters to the needs of Students as well as Non-student youth of the State & has over 57 recognized & over 22 un-recognized duly elected Sports Associations and organizing their activities regularly & most sincerely. All The Associations have their own Constitution and bye Laws, which are totally in line with that of their parent Sports Federations of the Country & also the I.O.A.
This chain of functioning of the State Associations goes right upto the World Bodies spread in different corners of the World. To quote an example of this ladder is that J&K FB Association is affiliated with All India Football Federation & AIFF is affiliated with Asian Football confederation and then to the FIFA.
The Association is recognized by AIFF & is eligible to take part in the National Competitions like Santosh Trophy, I-league etc. This procedure is applicable to all State Association who are functioning for organising the various domestic/ National level Competitions under the supervision of J&K SSC at present in J&K.
The Authorities do not Know if amalgamation of J&K SSC with Youth Services & Sports happens than there will be adverse effect on the promotion of Games in the State. Even the State Sports Associations cannot participate in National, International & world Competition as per the rules & regulation of the National Federations of the Country, Contrary to that the mandate of the Youth Services & Sports is only to deal with Students .
The J&K Football Association its affiliated 22 Functioning Districts & Clubs & over one Lakh Footballers Male & Female , humbly request to the Govt. to rethink the matter if it is in pipeline and allow the J&K SSC to function independently as it is functioning, & provide the JKSSC full financial assistance as per the requirements & Popularity & strength of the State Associations. We appeal to Rajbavan to clarify its stand on the issue and as it can have far reaching consequences on the Sports Infrastructures and human resources involved in it.
