SRINAGAR: Condemning the continuous illegal and unjustified detention of Hurriyat Chief Spokesman Gh. Ahmad Gulzar by police, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani criticized police action and said that political space is being denied by creating a situation of uncertainty and chaos in the state.
Taking a serious notice of prevailing repressive policy of India to push the people, especially the young generation to the wall, Hurriyat chairman said that the Indian barbaric attitude to suppress the political will and freedom sentiments of the people of Kashmir by using its military might has attained new heights.
The victims of political vengeance get repeatedly public safety acts slapped on them and prolonging their detention despite court orders of their release, is the worst form of vendetta, ordeal and lawlessness. Denial of basic amenities to these prisoners in almost all jails in and outside the state has made their lives vulnerable and as worse as slaves, he said.
Citing the example of the Hurriyat spokesman arrest, Hurriyat chairman said that he was arrested by police on 15 June 2019 from his residence without any remand. In these 18 days 5 FIR have been registered against him, wherein he was set free by the district magistrate, but was not released by the police.

Stressing on the early resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with right to self-determination, the Hurriyat chairman said that good sense should prevail in the power corridors of Delhi to accept the ground realities and address the core issue at earliest. (PTK)
