LG chairs meet with traders, civil society members, others, discuss many issues; seeks support to make upcoming event as grand success
Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Thursday sought the support of civil society to make the upcoming G-20 event in Srinagar a grand success. The civil society and traders, however, pinned high hopes on G-20 stating that “we wish to see end of negative travel advisory by foreign countries on J&K”
Faiz Ahmad Bakshi Secretary General of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCC&I) said that several issues were discussed in the meeting today chaired by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, which include annual Amarnath yatra, Hajj-2023, Kheer Bhawani and especially the upcoming G-20 event.
“The participants were told to extend their support to make the G-20 event a grand success as the event is important, which is set to give benefits to the people here,” Bakhshi said.
He further said that the KCC&I has raised the issue of travel advisory in foreign countries and said that the event should help in putting an end to the advisory. “The travel advisory is applicable in nearly 50 countries, who control 85% world’s GDP and 75% of population as well, thus the lifting of travel advisory would help us to fight the climate change and other things in every aspect,” he said
Manzoor Ahmad Wangnoo, Chairman, Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation (NLCO) told that a patient hearing was given to the demands and concerns of the civil society members and other participants.
“A threadbare discussion was made on several issues while the participants assured complete support to the government in making the event grand success,” he said, adding that it stands the responsibility of every single individual to make the event grand success.
However, the major demand put forth by the participants was that the travel advisory in foreign countries should be revoked, terming it as blot for J&K.
