SRINAGAR: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) rebel group including Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone who is an ally of the BJP did not attend the funeral of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in New Delhi yesterday.
Pertinently soon after the BJP pulled out from the coalition government with the PDP in June, five PDP MLAs — Imran Ansari, Abid Ansari, Javid Baigh, Abbas Wani, Majeed Paddar — and two MLCs — Saif-ud-Din Bhat and Yasir Reshi — openly disapproved of Mehbooba’s leadership.
The PDP rebel group is backing Peoples Conference chairman Sajad Lone to be the next chief minister of J&K in alliance with the saffron party.
Despite BJP pulled out the support from Mehbooba Mufti led coalition government, She on Friday, took her 18 MLAs and 6 MLCs, 2 MP’s and some senior leaders to New Delhi to pay tributes to Vajpayee.
Worth to mention even as world-renowned leaders visited Smriti Sthal New Delhi on Friday to pay homage and attend the funeral of Vajpayee, the Kashmir based BJP cadre skipped to attend the funeral.
Sources told Kashmir Patriot that none of the BJP leaders from Kashmir province was seen at Vajpayee’s funeral. King of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel, Former President of Indian Hamid Karzai, Pakistan acting law minister Syed Ali Zafar were among the neighboring countries who attend the last rites of Vajpayee. Sources added that with today’s development the BJP high authorities may express dismay.
