SRINAGAR: Government forces and militants on Sunday exchanged a fresh but a brief gunfire in the forest area of Bandipora district of north Kashmir.
A police officer told GNS said that a gunfight broke out between army’s 14 RR search party and the militants hiding in the woods of Raynar forests.
He said that the exchange of gunfire continued for nearly half an hour.
However, there was no immediate report of any causality on either side.
A massive search operation was ongoing to track down the militant group, the officer said.
The fresh gunfire broke out today in the afternoon when the army’s 14 RR along with the additional reinforcement has intensified the combing operation in the dense forests to trace out the hiding militants.
On Saturday evening, the officer had said that army’s 14 RR cordoned off Raynar forest area following the suspicious movement.
As such the forces launched the cordon, militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them triggering off a brief exchange of gunfire, he had said. (GNS)
