Budgam : Principal District Judge Budgam Raja Shujat Ali, in a petition moved by inhabitants of Tehsil Chararisharief through amicus-curie Javed Hubi wherein direction was sought for providing free gas to the poor and needy people of residents of tehsil charari-sharief (Rural and BPL families) under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Youjana (PMUY) & Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY).
Amicus curie in petition submitted that Narendra Modi led Centr4al Government has launched a scheme to provide free cooking gas connections to millions of householders during covid-19outbreak. Covid-19 Welfare package was announced by which the poor house holders who are using small cylinders of 5 KG will get eight free cylinders and those who are using big cylinders ( 4.2 KG) will get three free cylinders in three months (April, May and June 2020).
The area of Tehsil Charari-sharief comprises of 16 villages and most of the population is below poverty line, and they have been held eligible under the aforesaid schemes.
The court of Principal District Judge (Chairman DLSA) after entertaining the petition of Amicus Curie issued notice to the to the respondents through whatsApp and in the meantime deputy commissioner Budgam and Director CAPD were directed to seek the report from distributors of LPG operating in the area in respect of free distribution.
