Srinagar : Former IGP crime, Raja Ajaz Ali, who fought the last assembly elections on PDP ticket, resigned from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday.
Ali is the fourth leader to have resigned from the PDP in past one week after former MLAs Haseeb Drabu, Abid Ansari and Abbas Wani. Ali bagged nearly 19000 votes in last assembly polls and stood next to Congress candidate Taj Mohi-ud-Din who was the nearest rival of NC candidate Mohammad Shafi in Uri assembly constituency.
Accusing party leadership of ignoring him, the former police officer said that his growth in the party was curtailed and he was not politically empowered.
“It was my personal effort in last assembly elections that I bagged 19000 votes in Uri where PDP used to get not more than 1200 votes. I was sidelined in the party despite my hard efforts,” Ali said. (GNS)
