Forces start searching for militants in Pattan village

SRINAGAR : Government forces on Friday late afternoon launched a search operation in Hanjiweera village of Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district after they received information from their sources about presence of some militants in the area.

 

As per the reports that have reached News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir, government forces that include Army’s 29 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF) and Special Operation Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the village this afternoon.

 

The police officials have confirmed the search operation and have said that  search operation in the area was launched after forces got to know that some militants are present in the village.

 

Eyewitness told Press Trust of Kashmir that huge number of security personnel are present in the village and are conducting searches house-by-house.

 

There was no contact established with militants and searches were going on peacefully in the area at the time when this story was filed. (PTK)
