FCSCA employees sell Kerosene in black market in Kangan, residents face scarcity

SRINAGAR:  The employees of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department (FCSCA) allegedly selling kerosene in black market has led to the scarcity of kerosene in Kangan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Residents of the area while talking to PTK alleged that the employees of the concern department are selling kerosene in black market; hence people are forced to buy the it at exorbitant rates.

They said that the illicit practice by the employees of the department has put poor and middle class people in hardship.

They alleged that the staff of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department came to distribute kerosene for about two hours after three-four months without any intimation of date, time and place of distribution.

They said that the oil tanker of the department comes occasionally for about three hours when most of the people are unaware of the same.

Pertinently the state government had cancelled the license of all kerosene depots and distributing oil among the beneficiaries itself since 2007.

Locals said that the depots were better as the owners were locals and they could ask them for their share of kerosene anytime.

They alleged that some small shop owners and hardware shops are rampantly selling kerosene on more than double despite being price unauthorized.

They alleged that the officials visit area for mare a formality to sell a few liters of kerosene, so that they can prove that they went to the area to distribute kerosene.

Locals blame authority of Ganderbal district failed to address the concern of people.

When contact Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Mehraj-u-din Shah while talking to Press Trust of Kashmir said that he will take serious action against these people who are involved in these illegal practice.

He added that people should visit his office if they is any such practice going on by the employees.

He further added, “We will also discuss this issue with Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department”. (PTK)
