‘I am late Mufti’s man, will carry forward his mission; no plan to join any other party’
Srinagar : A day after his expulsion from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Nazir Ahmad Laway on Saturday said that he has no regret for participating in the swearing-in ceremony of first-ever Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu on Thursday.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday evening issued a statement wherein it announced the expulsion of its senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Nazir Ahmad Laway, stating that he went against the principals of the party by attending the swearing-in of the LG Murmu.
However, talking to the wire service –Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Laway said he has no regret for attending the swearing-in on LG Murmu, adding that he had not informed the party but attended the function only as the representative of people and not for any personal reasons. “The people of Kashmir at present are facing multiple issues. At present, a huge chunk of youth are caged in outside jails, education has got affected, Horticulture is witnessing losses and other issues due to which people of Kashmir are disturbed. It is a time to give priority to the sufferings of people. It is a time to find solution so that people can come out from these miseries,” he said.
When asked about the party’s decision, Laway said that he has no objections but let’s see what kind of benefit it will provide to the party. “I am the founder member of the party and I am the first one from the party who was hit by the bullet, my sister and brother-in-law got killed. I have sacrificed many things. I am the man of Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed. This party was destroyed by some people after Mufti Sahab’s death. I am innocent, I have not done anything wrong, people are the best judges and they are watching each and everything,” he added.
He further stated that after being expelled by the party, he will continue to carry forward the mission and vision of Late Mufti and will tell people the happenings that are taking place, adding that he will also meet the party president Mehbooba Mufti once she will be released.
Asked whether he will join any other party, Laway said, “There is no emergency to take any decision hurriedly. So far, I have no plans for joining any party.” (KNO)
