SRINAGAR: MLA Langate Er Rasheed on Wednesday asked National Investigation Agency to take care for its “credibility”, claiming that the investigation agency was being used for mere “political gains” by the ruling dispensation.

In his address in assembly, Er Rasheed also asked both PDP and National Conference to stop taunting each other.

“While NIA is a professional organization, government should never use it for political gains and NIA must take care of its credibility. It is shameful that NIA has been used to suppress those peaceful political voices in J&K, who seek resolution to seventy year long pending dispute.”

Referring to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s speech, Rasheed said that he (Omar) acknowledged the taunts.

“Omar said that during his regime, opposing parties (PDP and others) were making ruckus same is being done by us, “Er Rasheed said and lashed out at both the parties making this whole drama in assembly.

“We have to break this drama of ‘ik dosray ko tana dena’ (taunting each other). Let’s unite and take our stand before the New Delhi for resolution of Kashmir issue,” Rasheed said, adding, “I have already said even if you will make Syed Ali Shah Geelani as a Chief Minister the cycle of violence will continue till the resolution of Kashmir issue.”

He reiterated his stand on Kashmir and warned PDP and NC of “dire consequences if they continue to dilute the significance of dispute.”

Lashing out at New Delhi for “misusing” NIA for political gains, he criticized Mehbooba Mufti and Omer Abdullah for giving New Delhi and its agencies entry in every matter.

Rasheed condemned Omer Abdullah and other members of the house for maintaining complete silence over NIA issue.

Questioning his summoning by NIA and the “media propaganda”, Er. Rasheed said that Zahoor Watali was not a criminal and if meeting him was a crime then not only Omar Abdullah but more than a dozen senior members from both the sides of house have very close relationship with Zahoor Watali. “Why NIA should be used only against Er. Rasheed for vested political interests”.

He also lashed out at Ghulam Nabi Azad for maintaining complete silence over his (Rasheed’s) detention. “I committed a mistake by voting in his favour during Rajya Sabha polls,” he said, adding, “Giving vote in favour of Azad was my compulsion keeping in view the people’s wishes in mind. “

Er. Rasheed also gave details of his property to the state accountability commission through the speaker and urged that his all assets should be examined, so that people’s faith in public representatives gets restored “following a false propaganda campaign of TV Channels and other vested sections.”

Er. Rasheed reminded PDP about the lecture delivered by Lord Megnard on Mufti Sayeed’s anniversary and asked PDP to explain why not to accept the advice of their esteemed guest, who “clearly spoke in favour of plebiscite.”

Regarding bloodshed, he said hands of both ruling PDP and opposition NC are “drenched in blood”.

Er. Rasheed said that it was strange that what he was advocating inside the assembly, Lord Megnard was pleading same at Zorawar Stadium few days back and getting warm appreciation and applauds from governor N. N. Vohra, Mehbooba mufti , Nitish Kmar and Nirmal Singh.

“If BP doesn’t believe in plebiscite then it should have broken the alliance with PDP immediately after PDP’s special invitee Lord Megnard delivered his lecture.”

Reminding BJP members of Narinder Modi’s remarks of “Baap Batay ki Sarkar and Baap Beti Ki Sarkar he challenged them to say now Bhaie Behen Ki Sarkar (Brother-Sister) after Tasaduq Mufti’s induction in cabinet.”

Er. Rasheed asked the house either to work for the resolution of Kashmir dispute or keep its mandate limited to developmental issues only and not mislead people in the name of autonomy and self-rule.

He rejected PDP leader’s claims made in the house that Huriyat is showing rigidity and doesn’t want to talk. He termed PDP stand as misleading and reminded Mehbooba Mufti and her colleagues of the fact that Mirwaiz, Yaseen Malik and five militant commanders talked to New Delhi in the past, but got nothing except losing their credibility for the want of sincerity from New Delhi’s side.

Er. Rasheed said that Kashmiris are neither communal, nor want a resolution on geographical or communal lines but seek right to self determination as promised by India and Pakistan at United Nations. Asking New Delhi not to suppress “truthful and genuine voices” by using various agencies, Er. Rasheed reiterated that seeking plebiscite on both the sides of LOC is not a crime and even if he is hanged for saying so he will do it again and again.

“We are neither any one’s agents nor are we agents of Pakistan. We want resolution of Kashmir issue. If in past government talked to militant commanders why not now?” (GNS).
