Duo including a non-local drown in two separate incidents while beating the summer heat

Srinagar: While beating the sizzling summer heat, two persons drowned in two separate incidents in Kashmir Valley on Wednesday.

One drowned in Sopore town of Baramulla district while another who happens to be a non-local slope-seller drowned in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Official sources told that a 23-year-old youth drowned while taking a bath in Pohru waterbody in North Kashmir’s Sopore town.

They said that several people were taking a bath in the Pohru Nallah. During the swimming, a youth, identified as Aithisham Shafi, a resident of Nathipora Bomai Sopore. drowned.

An operation was underway to retrieve the youth when this report was being filed.

Another young man Aurangzeb (30) from UP State drowned in the Yarigund Kawosa area of Budgam while taking a bath in Sukhnag nallah.

After an operation, the dead body of the victim was retrieved from the water body.

Police have taken cognizance of both incidents. [KNT]
