Srinagar: The inhabitants of Bonhama, Kawpora, Daji and its adjacent areas in central Kashmir’s Budgam district have decried shortage of potable water in the area for past over two months.
Locals of the area informed that due to shortage of water, the people are facing immense problems.
Villagers said authorities pay no heed to their grievances and have to fetch waters from other sources like wells and rivers to fill water for their daily household chores.
They said the shortage of water has caused great inconvenience leaving them helpless.
Ishfaq Majeed, a resident of Kawpora Budgam told JKNS that it has been a very long time since taps are running dry but nobody is paying any heed to our problem.
“We approached several times to the authorities concerned, but to no avail. Our women have to walk in this harsh winter to fetch water from wells and streams,” he said.
The inhabitants appealed Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter and direct the concerned official to look into the matter.
Executive Engineer PHE division Budgam, Gurmeet Singh, he said that the issues of drinking water that the villagers face will be resolved on priority. (JKNS).
