Doubling rate of COVID-19 cases in J&K stands at 11. 5 days

Srinagar : The doubling rate of COVID-19 cases in J&K now stands at 11. 5 days, official figures reveal.

Figures released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MOHFW) available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Jammu & Kashmir figures in the list of 18 states/union territories which have shown improvement as compared to the national average, as on April 19.

The national average of COVID-19 doubling is 7.5 days. It further reveals that Jammu & Kashmir UT still figures in the list of nine States and UTs whose doubling rate is less than 20 days.

The data shows that doubling rate of coronavirus cases in Ladakh Union Territory now stands at 26. 6 days which shows a lot of improvement. As already reported by KNO, eight districts of Jammu & Kashmir have been identified as COVID-19 hotspots by the Union Health Ministry.

Of them, six have been classified as hotspots with large outbreak of COVID-19 and two as hotspots with clusters. Srinagar, Jammu, Bandipora, Baramulla, Udhampur and Kupwara districts have been identified as hotspots with large outbreak of COVID-19 cases while Shopian, Rajouri have been identified as hotspots with clusters.

It is worthwhile to mention here that 90 Red Zones have been identified in Jammu and Kashmir so far, in order to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus. As many as 368 persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir over the past one month—(KNO)
