TANGMARAG: A family from North Kashmir Wednesday alleged that two doctors posted at Sub District Hospital in a bid to force their ailing son to go for a surgery at their private clinic remained absent from their duty when the patient needed them.
The family members who emerged in Press Enclave Srinagar today said they admitted Nisar Ahmed Parray (19) at Sub District Hospital Tangmarg after he developed some urinal infection.
“My brother needed surgery but Dr Abid Jabar and Dr Farooq Ahmed demanded Rs 30,000 from us with a word that they will perform the surgery at their private clinic. When we refused, they half-heartedly did surgery and left the hospital in a hurry,” Mushtaq Ahmed Parray told news agency CNS.
He said that during night hours, his brother after the surgery lost blood profusely while in the absence of these two doctors, they arranged a private vehicle and shifted the patient to JVC Bemina.
“These doctors didn’t perform the surgery professionally as we refused to pay them money. Next day, when we protested against these two doctors, SDM Tangmarg Abdul Aziz came for their support and dragged us out from the hospital,” family members said.
The protesting family members while demanding action against the two doctors sought intervention of Health Minister Bali Bhagat.
When contacted Sub Divisional Magistrate Tangmarg, Mr Abdul Aziz said that he himself visited the hospital to inquire the matter. “I have already sought a report from hospital authorities and action will be taken if anybody is found on wrong foot,” he said and added that he objected only when the attendants raised slogans inside the hospital.
Despite repeated attempts, Block Medical Officer Tangmarg could not be contacted. (CNS)
