Doctors protest thrashing of colleague by Policeman

SRINAGAR : Doctors stages a protest at Government Medical College Srinagar here on Wednesday against the thrashing of a doctor while he was on duty, allegedly by the police.

Reports said that the post-graduate students and resident doctors stayed away from work to protest against the incident that happened late Tuesday evening.

Protesting doctors said that policeman’s mother is admitted at the hospital adding that when he came to see her, he ruthlessly beat up Ovais Wani, a third year post graduate student, who was on duty at the time of the attack.

Wani, they said, was injured in the attack. He is reportedly undergoing treatment at Triage, a high dependency ward of the hospital. The protesters demanded action against the erring policeman.
