Bandipora: Residents of Saderkote Payeen village in North Kashmir’s Bandipora district are facing an imminent threat due to the deteriorating condition of their Kalwethipora water service reservoir.
Locals told that the water reservoir, which is situated near the Police Post, the aging tank has developed significant holes, posing a constant risk to the community.
“Despite repeated appeals for the service reservoir’s repair and reinforcement, authorities have ignored our pleas, leaving us vulnerable to a potential disaster,” the locals said.
“The reservoir’s precarious state has residents fearing that its collapse could result in substantial damage to the village, as it sits atop the settlement, with half of the community residing below it,” they said.
Locals have demanded an immediate action to repair and reinforce the water service reservoir to avert any potential catastrophe.
Efforts to reach the Executive Engineer of Jal-Shakti Division in Bandipora for comment didn’t frutify as he didn’t respond to repeated calls from this reporter. (GNS)
