SRINAGAR: Jammu Kashmir Police Chief SP Vaid with all praise for the Jammu Kashmir Police Force today said that police is doing a wonderful job to maintain law and order.

He however, lamented that this police force didn’t get any benefit from 7th Pay Commission that was implemented by the Government.

“The Government implemented 7th Pay Commission and raised the salaries of every department, however, Jammu Kashmir Police personnel didn’t witness any raise. The major problem is that we have financial crunch and our resources are limited. Still, I have taken up the matter with the police headquarter and hopefully the government will consider it and the risk allowance of police personnel will be enhanced,” Vaid said.

Meanwhile he expressed happiness that people didn’t resort to any violence while observing a complete shutdown on the issue of Article 35 A. He said Article 35 A is a political issue and the matter is now in Supreme Court. But, one thing gave me immense pleasure that despite observing a complete shutdown, people didn’t resort to violence anywhere. “Though the shutdown was unprecedented but there was no untoward incident and it is a positive change.”

While commenting on the surge in militancy in South Kashmir, SP Vaid said he is really pained to see young boys following the path of violence and getting exploited by some elements for their political purposes. “Life is precious and a gift from God which we get once. I appeal to the youth of Kashmir to get maximum out of their life and use it for the benefit of society. Youth of Kashmir are talented and skilful and they need to make better careers rather than wasting their energy on something that leads them nowhere,” he told news agency CNS adding that it is heartening to see young boys picking up guns and wasting their talent. (CNS)
