New Delhi: A special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Delhi has granted interim bail to Member of Parliament Rashid Engineer in connection with a terror funding case. The bail, which is effective until October 2, 2024, will allow Rashid Engineer to actively campaign in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections.
Rashid Engineer had filed for interim relief citing the need to participate in the electoral process. After reviewing the plea, the court granted the bail under strict conditions, while the investigation into the alleged terror funding case continues.
The MP has been under scrutiny as part of an ongoing investigation into funding activities linked to terror organizations operating in Jammu and Kashmir. He has consistently denied the allegations, maintaining his innocence and accusing political rivals of using the legal system to tarnish his image ahead of the elections.
