8500 masks handed over to Chairperson BDCs for onward distribution

Budgam : Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza (KAS) today convened a meeting of all BDC Chairpersons and president of MCs in order to have an interaction with them relating to   containing of covid-19 spread in the district. 

The meeting among others was attended by Nasir ahmad ADC Budgam, Dr. Mohammed Ashraf GM DIC Budgam, Dr. Zahoor Raina Nodal officer Covid-19, ACD, CMO, DIO and other concerned officials. 

During the interaction, Dr. Zahoor Raina Nadal Officer Covid-19 on behalf of District Administration apprised the meeting that public residing in the designated Red Zones are fully cooperating with the authorities and are following all guidelines, protocols envisaged for red zones. He said there is further need for mass awareness and to facilitate this, all BDC chairpersons along with other president MCs need to play their sincere part in spreading the message to contain COVID-19 pandemic.  

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said, COVID-19 crisis is a challenge and to curtail its spread from gross root level, contact tracing has to be followed up with more vigor and energy, general public shall adhere and follow the instructions prescribed under lock down guidelines and protocol. Besides there is need to be change in lifestyle,   behaviour and routine habits. The DC also handed over 8500 masks to Chairperson BDCs for onward distribution among public in concerned areas.

The DC emphasized that chairperson BDCs shall utilize their available resources, approach in their concerned areas to facilitate cent percent information about the persons hiding their travel history. This initiative can minimize the community transmission threat to the large extent.

In his address to the meeting, the DDC urged upon all BDC chairpersons and presidents of MCs that being elected by the people and as representatives of people it is their responsibility to come up to expectation of electorate. Present circumstances are challenge for all of us and there is need to fight against it collectively, the DC added. 

Further, the DC directed that BDCs & MCs must also involve the services of village numberdars, chowkidars and other senior citizens to prepare general public to follow all precautions required to derail the spread of this pandemic. 

On the occasion the DM directed all Tehsildars to enforce lock down measures strictly where it necessitates. In addition guidelines/protocols prescribed under SOPs, particularly wearing face masks shall be adhered in letter and spirit. He further instructed that anyone found violating the guidelines, not wearing masks shall be taken into account and instant penalty as warranted under law shall be imposed. (KNB)
