‘40 deaths including a non-local, a CRPF trooper recorded from Kashmir, 5 in Jammu region’

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded four Covid deaths including a CRPF man who was posted in South Kashmir’s Anatnag district taking the number of total deaths due to pandemic to 45 in the UT.
A Covid infected 55-year-old man from Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district died at SMHS hospital this afternoon. He was the fourth Covid causality since morning in Kashmir as earlier in the day, a CRPF posted in South Kashmir who was admitted in SKIMS, Soura breathed his last after testing positive for the pandemic.
A few hours after him, a 35-year-old man from Khanyar area of Srinagar, who had met an accident and had contracted the deadly virus, succumbed at CD hospital, Srinagar and on Monday afternoon a 65- year-old man from Handwara who was having many underlying ailments died at CD hospital.
Dr. Salim Khan Nodal officer for Covid-19 at GMC Srinagar confirmed to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a Covid-19 positive patient who was undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital has died at the hospital on Monday afternoon. “He was 55-year-old and hailed from Pampore area of Pulwawama district,” he said. “The patient was admitted on Saturday with bilateral pneumonia.”
The death toll due to Covid-19 positive patients in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 45 which includes 40 from Kashmir division (including a non-local tailor and a CRPF man) and five from Jammu division.
As far the deceased CRPF man, the CRPF top brass decided to perform the last rites of its first Covid causality in Kashmir only and not to send the body of deceased to his native village.
“We are going to follow Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines in spirit while dealing with the body of deceased CRPF man,” said Assistant Commandant and CRPF spokesman for (operations) in Kashmir, Junaid Khan told KNO. “The deceased CRPF man will be cremated in Kashmir only while following the proper protocol”—(KNO)
