Covid-19 outbreak: ‘Taking all precautions, no suspect reported yet, priority to maintain law and order in Kmr’: IG CRPF

Srinagar: In the wake of looming coronavirus (COVID-19) threat, the Inspector General of CRPF, Srinagar, PK Pnaday Saturday maintained that they are taking all precautionary measures and that their men were serving the people in an exemplary manner in maintaining law and order.
He also said that although no suspect has been detected in Central Reserve Police Force Kashmir, it has set up quarantine bed facilities at their units as well as has trained personnels to provide a helping hand to the affected people.
A 34-year-old Jawan in Leh has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
“Our men in the streets of Srinagar and other areas are ensuring safety and security of people and at the same time we are taking all the measures to keep our men safe from the deadly coronavirus,” PK Panday who recently joined IG CRPF Srinagar told Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) over phone.
Panday said that Law and order is the utmost priority of the security agencies,” I am happy that both the Jammu and Kashmir Police and central Reserve Police force are successfully handling security and law and order duties in the valley”.
He added that the CRPF has been working with the Jammu and Kashmir police for a long time and good results have come due to coordinated efforts.
“The forces will continue their collective work to safeguard the interests of the people in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
Commenting on the deadly coronavirus outbreak, the IG CRPF said that they have directed all men to take precautions during the duty hours. “Our job is to maintain law and order in the valley. To be on safer side under the current threat of coronavirus we shift our men regularly,” he maintained.
He said that other measures have been taken to keep safe the force from coronavirus. “We have set up quarantine centers here in the Srinagar. The purpose of the preparation is to provide separate care to suspected coronavirus patients so that they didn’t affect others,” he maintained.
“We are providing our men masks, hand sanitizers. We have provided nebulizers, oxygen to each sub unit, besides all the emergency medicine have been made available in the every unit of CRPF,” Panday maintained.
He however said that so far nobody in the CRPF has been quarantined in valley. “Fortunately nobody has been suspected for the virus in our forces,” the CRP chief maintained.
It is to mention here that the Home Ministry in its advisory have asks the CRPF personnel to “avoid international or domestic air, bus or train travel for at least one month.
They have also direct the CRPF to create spaces in the camps to test, review and quarantine for those who have either traveled or returning from leave.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has also asked the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) to discourage its personnel from taking leaves. (KINS)
