67 test positive in Kashmir in last five days, one in Jammu

Srinagar : The positive cases for deadly COVID-19 continue to surge in Kashmir division as 14 more cases were recorded on Monday taking the toll of total positive cases in the Valley to 313. The number of positive cases in Jammu region stands at 55.

Government spokesman Rohit Kansal said that more 14 persons have been tested positive in the Valley. The fresh 14 cases have pushed the total tally in J&K to 368.

With fresh cases, the toll in the Valley alone has crossed 300 mark as the current tally has reached 313. “14 new cases reported. All from Kashmir. Total number of cases now 368. Jammu-55 and Kashmir-313. Detailed bulletin follows,” Kansal tweeted.

According to officials among new 14 cases, 7 are from Bandipora, 2 from Kupwara and 5 from Anantnag. Dr G H Yatoo Nodal officer for Coronavirus at SKIMS told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that on Monday nine more persons were tested positive at SKIMS.

Among them 7 are from Bandipora and two are from Kupwara, he said adding that six more patients were discharged from SKIMS today after their complete recovery. Officials from Bandipora said that all seven are from Gund Jahangeer village and among them there a 10 year old girl.

Pertinently Bandipora district has 91 positive cases, highest cases in all districts of Jammu and Kashmir union Territory and among 91, over 40 are in Gund Jahangeer village. Officials from Kupwara said that two more patients are from already declared Red zone Anderhama and both are contacts of earlier patients.

They said six patients belonging to Kupwara district have recovered and total number of positive cases in Kupwara is now 27. Dr Salim Khan Nodal officer for Coronavirus at GMC Srinagar told KNO that on Monday 236 samples were tested at CD hospital lab and among them five were tested positive who all are residents of Anantnag.

He said that 265 more samples were received today and reports of 80 samples are yet to come. Officials from Anantnag said that new five cases include a 19 year old girl from kulul Nowgam, 55,56 and 63 year old men from Nowgam area of Shangus Anantnag which was declared red zone before and 47 year old man 45 Mohanpora Akingam area of district who has travel history of outside J&K.

Nodal officer for Coronavirus in Anantnag district Dr Farhat told KNO that we must be ready to fight covid-19 as community spread as well. Dr Tabasum, Deputy Medical Superintendent JLNM hospital told KNO that five patients were discharged from the hospital on Sunday after their complete recovery.

She said that now there are 25 positive patients at JLNM hospital, among them 24 are asymptomatic while as one is symptomatic. Officials from Baramulla said that seven patients belonging to different areas of the North Kashmir who were tested positive for covid-19 last month have recovered and were discharged on Monday.

Medical superintendent at District Hospital Pulwama told KNO that 51 more samples were taken at hospital on Monday and have been sent for reports. Pertinently 67 samples were tested positive in Kashmir division in last five days while as just single case has been tested positive in Jammu division in same time.

14 cases each on 16, 17 and 20 April were tested positive in Kashmir division while as on 18 April, 13 cases were tested positive in Kashmir while as on 19 April 12 cases were tested positive from Kashmir and one from Rajouri Jammu.

As per officials figures 78 positive cases including one death and 12 recoveries are from Srinagar, 80 including eleven recoveries and one death are from Bandipora, 42 including two deaths are from Baramulla, 13 including seven recoveries from Budgam, 3 from Pulwama including one recovery, 22 from Shopian including two recoveries, 27 from Kupwara, 14 from Ganderbal, 5 from Kulgam and 3 from Anantnag in Kashmir division.

In Jammu division, 26 including four recoveries are from Jammu district , 20 including one death and five recoveries are from Udhampur, 4  from Samba and 3 from Rajouri all recovered and one from Kishtiwar who has also recovered.

As per the daily information bulletin 60,419 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while as 6071 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 285 persons are in hospital isolation while as 252 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 23,114 persons have completed surveillance period and 25,692 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,937 samples are available.

Out of 6,937 the number of samples tested negative stands at 6,596 while as 341 have been tested positive, among them 285 are active and 51 persons have recovered and 5 persons have died—(KNO)
