Srinagar : The Jammu and Kashmir Government has evacuated about 3,55,850 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 126 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 108,693 passengers while about 2,47,157 persons from other states and UTs including 928 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 2359 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from August 25 to August 26 mornings while 1110 passengers have reached today in the 105th Delhi COVID special train at Jammu. So far, 105 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 92,997 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far. (KINS)
Govt makes use of FASTag mandatory for availing any discount in toll charges

Srinagar, Aug 26 (KINS): Government has made FASTag mandatory to allow users avail any discount at the highway toll plazas across the country.
According to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) the decision has been taken to promote digital mode of payment and ensure seamless travel on the National Highways.
The ministry of Road transport and highways amended the National Highways Fee Rules, 2008 to allow discount for users making a return journey within 24 hours and other local exemptions only in cases where the vehicle carries a valid functional FASTag.
The Ministry has also informed that the amendment would also enable automatic discount and no prior receipt or intimation will be necessary if return journeys are completed within 24 hours. (KINS)
