COVID-19: 20 people die; 1,249 test positive in J&K

Total cases 67,510, toll mounts to 1062; 2,796 more patients recover in UT

Srinagar : Twenty more people died due to Covid-19 infection in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday while 1249 fresh positive cases were recorded, taking the total number of cases to 67510 in the Union Territory.

With 20 fresh deaths, the number of people who died of the dreaded virus in the J&K, has reached 1062.

Of the total 67,510 cases, 42,622 are from Kashmir and 24,848 from Jammu division. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 1,249 new cases, 603 belong to Kashmir division while as 646 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 42,622 including 33,495 recoveries and 793 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 24,848 including 130, 35 recoveries and 269 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 19,918 including 8,374 from Kashmir division and 11,544 from Jammu division.

With 2,796 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 46,530 which is 68.92 percent of the total cases and was over 78 percent over two weeks back.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 190 from Srinagar, 62 from Budgam, 80 from Baramulla, 25 from Pulwama, 40 from Anantnag, 41 from Bandipora, 61 from Kupwara, 74 from Ganderbal, 13 from Kulgam and 08 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 646 from Jammu division include 230 from Jammu, 88 from Rajouri, 48 from Udhampur,  24 from Kathua, 61 from Doda, 39 from Samba, 58 from Poonch, 44 from Ramban, 14 from Reasi and 40 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

Interestingly, in the last 24 hours, 20 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include four from Kashmir division and 16 from Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include two from Budgam and one each from Pulwama and Kupwara in Kashmir division while as 16 from Jammu division include three from Jammu district, two each from Rajouri, Kuthua, Doda and Ramban, four from Samba and one from Kishtwar.

As per officials figures, 13,608 positive cases including 272 deaths and 11,273 recoveries are from Srinagar, 4,545 including 80 deaths and 2,879 recoveries are from Budgam, 4,033 including 2,698 recoveries and 118 deaths are from Baramulla, 3,675 including 3,085 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,356 including 62 deaths and 2,881 recoveries are from Anantnag, 3,254 including 2,427 recoveries and 34 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,304 cases including 2,440 and 64 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,711 including 2,056 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,223 including 2,023 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kulgam and 1,963 including 1,733 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 10,905 including 5,738 recoveries and 146 deaths are from Jammu district, 2,308 including 988 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Rajouri, 1,939 including 1,391 recoveries and 10 deaths are from Udhampur, 1,818 including 1,164 recoveries and 17 deaths are from Kathua, 1,904 including 659 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Doda, 1,539 including 688 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Samba, 1,511 including 604 recoveries and 09 deaths are from Poonch, 1,171 including  766 recoveries and 08 deaths are from Ramban, 795 including 520 recoveries and 05 deaths are from Reasi and 958 including 517 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 555,010 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 14,891 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 19,918 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 459,742 persons have completed surveillance period and 59,397 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,464,565 samples are available.

Out of 1,464,565 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,397,055 while 67,510 have tested positive, among them 19,918 are active, 46,530 persons have recovered and 1062 persons have died—(KNO)
