COVID-19: 1,590 more cases, 18 fresh deaths in J&K

Total cases 58,244, 932 deaths; Active cases over 19,000 in UT

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday recorded another surge of 1,590 fresh cases of deadly virus including 92 travelers taking the total number of positive cases to 58,244 in the Union Territory. The J&K UT also witnessed 18 fresh deaths related to Covid-19, taking the total number of deaths due to dreaded virus in the UT to 932.

Of the total 58,244 cases, 38,446 are from Kashmir and 19,798 from Jammu division. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), among 1,590 new cases, 758 belong to Kashmir division while as 832 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 38,446 including 29,150 recoveries and 747 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 19,798 including 8,659 recoveries and 185 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 19,503 including 8,549 from Kashmir division and 10,954 from Jammu division.

With 747 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 37,809 which is 64.91 percent of the total cases which was over 78 percent few day before.

Interestingly, for the first time since Covid-19 outbreak, active cases have reached over 19,500 in J&K and active cases in Jammu division are more than recovered cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 225 from Srinagar, 119 from Budgam, 92 from Baramulla, 70 from Pulwama, 37 from Anantnag, 74 from Kupwara, 42 from Bandipora, 13 from Kulgam, 86 from Ganderbal  and 0 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 832 from Jammu division include 221 from Jammu, 44 from Udhampur, 147 from Rajouri, 80 from Kuthua, 39 from Samba, 92 from Poonch, 39 from Ramban, 114 from Doda, 24 from Reasi and 32 from Kishtiwar,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in last 24 hours, 18 persons who were tested positive for Covid-19 have died which include 07 from Kashmir division and 11 from Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include 01 each from Srinagar, Budgam, Bandipora, Kulgam and Shopian and two from Kupwara in Kashmir division while as 11 from Jammu division include seven from Jammu district, one each from Udhampur, Rajouri, Samba and Ramban.

As per officials figures, 12,167 positive cases including 256 deaths and 9,961 recoveries are from Srinagar, 4,066 including 74 deaths and 2,430 recoveries are from Budgam, 3,609 including 2,459 recoveries and 114 deaths are from Baramulla, 3,344 including 2,774 recoveries and 62 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,013 including 54 deaths and 2,219 recoveries are from Anantnag, 2,980 including 1,973 recoveries and 60 deaths are from Kupwara, 2,963 cases including 1,955 and 30 deaths are from Bandipora, 2,121 including 1,950 recoveries and 41 deaths are from Kulgam, 2,291 including 1,726 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Ganderbal and 1,892 including 1,703 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 9,219 including 3,043 recoveries and 106 deaths are from Jammu district, 1,603 including 862 recoveries and 07 deaths are from Udhampur, 1,773 including 877 recoveries and 19 deaths are from Rajouri, 1,502 including 945 recoveries and 13 deaths are from Kathua, 1174 including 633 recoveries and 09 deaths are from Samba, 1,087 including 432 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Poonch, 904 including 661 recoveries and 04 deaths are from Ramban, 1,167 including 494 recoveries and 15 deaths are from Doda, 656 including 374 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Reasi and 713 including   338 recoveries and 03 deaths are from Kishtwar.

As per the daily information bulletin, 530,708 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 31,140 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 19,503 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 415,247 persons have completed surveillance period and 63,886 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,297,329 samples are available.

Out of 1,297,329 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,239,085 while 58,244 have tested positive, among them 19,503 are active and 37,809 persons have recovered—(KNO)
