Directs officials to quarantine government employees who have foreign travel history since Mar 01

Srinagar: Amid scare over coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir, the government has directed all administrative secretaries and deputy commissioners to ensure quarantine of all government employees and their relatives who have a foreign travel history Since March 01.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the move comes after government directed employees to attend their offices on alternate weeks to control spread of deadly epidemic in the Union Territory where four positive cases have been detected.

In a fresh directive, the government has directed all administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, head of departments and deputy commissioners to ensure quarantine of government employees who have a foreign travel history since August 1 before they resume duties.

“A large number of government employees or their relatives have a foreign travel history and need to first undergo quarantine,” reads the circular issued by general administration department.

As per the circular, contact with persons having a foreign travel history is to be controlled/ discourage till their quarantine period is over.

“Though only a small number of coronavirus cases are reported in Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir, but keeping in view the nature of the virus and apprehensions of its spreading, there is a need to take preventive measures to stop its spread,” it further states.

On Friday evening, the government directed officials to draw weekly roster of duty for all employees who shall attend the offices on alternative weeks till further orders—(KNO)
