SRINAGAR: Commuters visiting Srinagar from northern district Baramulla, Kupwara and other areas say they were facing lot of problems at the new bus stand at Parimpora.
It is difficult to get a mini bus to their destinations in the city from Parimpora, they said. Adding that the mini buses too are overcrowded and they hardly get space to get into it.
Muzamil Rasheed from Sopore, a post-graduate student of Kashmir University. “Every Monday they travel to Srinagar from Sopore and spend the week at their rental accommodation at Hazratbal”, he added.
He says that they have to wait for 30 to 45 minutes to get a mini bus from Parimpora, which is really difficult from them to reach on time. Shahid Nazir, a resident of Baramulla working in Srinagar, said the shifting of bus stand from Batamaloo to Parimpora was is bad decision by government. “Earlier a person used to reach his destination on time as single vehicle used to drop commuters at the nearest spot to city centre,” Shahid said.
He added that “In short nothing is going smoothly. Things are getting difficult day by day.” Several passengers said that they board cabs like Sumo’s to reach their destinations in time; however authorities didn’t allow them to reach Batamaloo, which needs to look into. (PTK)
