College students demand summer vacation as temperature soars

SRINAGAR: As temperatures soared to 33 degrees Celsius in Kashmir valley, students from several government colleges demanding summer vacation at the earliest.

They request authorities to prepone summer vacation for colleges so that students studying in colleges. “All schools have been closed form 19 July, but government colleges are still open,” said Yusra, a graduate student of Women College Srinagar.

Aarish Alam, a commerce student said that “As government school has announced summer vacation, but college authorities were reluctant to announce summer break due to which we are suffering in rising temperature.”

She added that it is very difficult to attend college from 9 to 3 PM. adding that it’s not easy to take 6 classes in a day. Another student said that if government announces vacation is school what about college students.

She added that there are predictions that the temperature will rise further and government should look into the matter.   (PTK)
