Says his cabinet colleagues must follow same; use of stick waving or aggressive gestures be avoided
Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday spoke to Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and asked him to ensure that there no green corridor and stoppage of traffic during his movement.
In his first post on X, after being sworn in as the first CM of the J&K UT, Omar said: “have spoken to the DG @JmuKmrPolice that there is to be no “green corridor” or traffic stoppage when I move anywhere by road. I have instructed him to minimise public inconvenience & the use of sirens is to be minimal. The use of any stick waving or aggressive gestures is to be totally avoided. I’m asking my cabinet colleagues to follow the same example. In everything our conduct must be people friendly. We are here to serve the people & not to inconvenience them.”
Earlier, Omar had stated that by selecting Deputy Chief Minister from Jammu, he has fulfilled his promise of giving due representation to Jammu people. While Omar was sworn in as the CM of J&K UT, MLA Nowshera Surinder Choudhary who defeated J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina, was administered the oath of Deputy CM of J&K. MLA Damhal Hanjipora Sakina Itoo, MLA Mendhar Javaid Rana, MLA Rafiabad Javaid Dar and MLA Chamb Satish Sharma were sworn in as the ministers of Omar led cabinet—(KNO)
