Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its demand for a separate committee to look into the concerns of daily wage workers, particularly in the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department.
Reacting to BJP’s demand, Omar Abdullah asserted that the government has already constituted a committee to address the issues of daily wagers. “We have formed a committee for daily wagers. If the BJP does not trust this committee, it means they do not trust the government officials,” the Chief Minister said, questioning the party’s stance on the matter.
The issue took a political turn after Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chowdhary recently alleged that some daily wager unions are influenced by the BJP and are being used to push the party’s agenda. His statement sparked controversy, with BJP leaders insisting that the government must create a separate committee dedicated specifically to PHE daily wagers.
