SRINAGAR: Authorities on Tuesday said that class work will remain suspended in some colleges and schools of Kashmir valley tomorrow.
Official sources said the decision has been taken as a “precautionary measure” to avoid law and order situation.
An official of the district administration said the all schools and degree colleges will remain closed in Kulgam tomorrow.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag said the class work in all schools and colleges of the district will remain suspended tomorrow.
The class work will also remain suspended at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awnatipora.
“But the exams will be held as per schedule,” a spokesman of the varsity said.
Class work will also remain suspended in all degree colleges and higher secondary schools of Pulwama district. “The educational institutions up to high school level will remain functional,” deputy commissioner Pulwama said.
District administration Kupwara has decided to suspend the class work in all degree colleges and higher secondary schools of the district except Keran, Karnah, and Machil areas.
However, all the educational institutions will remain functional in Srinagar and Bandipora districts. Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar and Mohammad Yasin Malik has called a protest march to Kulgam to pay homage to slain civilians.
