‘We are being forced to deposit fee: MCA students

Srinagar : The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has issued show cause notice to some of the private schools violating government order on charging of fee for lockdown period.

“A complainant has produced full proof before the CEO Srinagar showing clearly that 50 percent transportation charges viz. Rs 1050 out of Rs 2100 stands charged by the management of DPS Srinagar during the lockdown period,” reads the notice.  The DSEK has asked the school management to explain its position.

Another show cause notice has been issued to the management of G D Goenkia Public School, Lal Bazar, Srinagar for collecting tuition fee as well as the miscellaneous charges from the parents.

Parents are accusing almost all the schools of forcing them to deposit fee during the time of pandemic. “We are being asked to deposit fee.”

MCA students from Parihaspora Engineering College told news agency KNT that they are being forced to pay Rs 22,000 for a 3rd semester. “The college charges Rs 40,000 annually from us. Recently, we were informed to register for the 3rd and 4th semester but asked to pay Rs 22,000 as fee. We haven’t studied anything and never went to college due to Coronavirus pandemic and still we are being forced to pay the fee,” the students said appealed government to come clear on the issue.
