Ceasefire extension depends on security review: HM Rajnath Singh

SRINAGAR: Home Minister Rajnath Singh who is on two day visit to Kashmir on Friday announced that decision on extension in ceasefire would be taken after reviewing the security and proper consultations thereafter with the public representatives of Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to reporters after meeting public delegations in the border district Kupwara, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said: “Delegations have put their demands before me. Central Government has taken some measures and further steps would also be taken for the welfare of border population. Five IR Battalions will be raised and sixty percent of the vacancies for these IR battalions will be reserved for the people of border areas.”
On the other hand, In reply to a question on possibility of extension in ceasefire, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said: “After few days security will be reviewed at the highest level and views of the public representatives of Jammu and Kashmir thereafter will be taken before taking a final decision.
