‘Unless you enter into dirt, it cannot be cleared’
BUDGAM: In an appreciable move, educated youth of district Budgam is creating door to door awareness about Solid Waste Management in the area. According to the reports, from last more than a month now, residents of four wards of Budgam town viz Karipora , Naraspora , Colony , Ganai Mohalla , Aga road are segregating solid waste at source adding that it is then lifted and disposed off at two separate places. The compost is made from Biodegradable waste as well.
Many believe that such initiatives must be started across the valley by educating people, especially females to avoid pollution and environmental hazard. Like these youth volunteers, other residential colonies, villages with the required support from the concern authorities. Dr Raja Muzaffar, who is a social & RTI activist wrote on his facebook wall, “unless you enter into dirt, it cannot be cleared’. Muzaffar is also part of this applauded initiative in the Budgam area.
The Kashmir valley need more and more volunteers to have healthy and clean surroundings to live. The understanding of waste management is the utmost in present day societies. It can be achieved only when the societies share the responsibility of healthy living by initiating it from their own homes.
Pertinently there is a government programme like Swatch Bharat Mission to achieve this mission of solid liquid waste management for better living.
