Srinagar: Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit from Awantipora area of south Kashmir.
A police spokesman in a statement said that Police and security forces in Awantipora laid a Naka at Panzgam following credible inputs.
“At the Naka (checkpoint) the joint team of forces intercepted two persons and during their checking recovered arms & ammunition from their possession which includes UBGL, grenades & live rounds and other incriminating materials,” the spokesman claimed.
The spokesman identified the duo as Jan Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh resident of Kaweni Dugripora and Nasir-ul-Islam son of Shabir Ahmad Shah resident of Panzgam.
“Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law and preliminary investigation in the instant matter has revealed that the duo are affiliated with HM outfit. Further investigation in the instant matter is going on,” the spokesman added. (GNS)
