Srinagar: Clashes between protesters and government forces erupted at Drubgam area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday, sources said.
They said that government forces launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in Drubgam area to start house to house searches.
Local sources told Kashmir Reader as the siege was being laid, scores of protesters, especially youth pelted rocks on forces, who retaliated with some aerial shots to disperse the protesters.
This according to locals created panic in the area.
Meanwhile, government forces also fired many shots in air in Newa village of Pulwama after some youth pelted them with stones.
Locals sources told Kashmir Reader that CRPF and SOG personnel were in Newa village and were pelted with stones. They added that forces personnel resorted to aerial firing to disperse the protesters.
The situation returned to normal soon, they said.
